UKRN works with Digital Framework Task Group and Centre for Digital Built Britain to publish the Gemini Principles, the guiding principles to facilitate progress towards a national digital twin.<\/p>\n

The UKRN has been working with Cambridge University\u2019s Centre for Digital Built Britain<\/a><\/strong> (CDBB) and the Digital Framework Task Group<\/a><\/strong> (DFTG) on how to increase the interoperability of the UK\u2019s infrastructure data.<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

The National Infrastructure Commission<\/a><\/strong> argues that increased data sharing could release an additional \u00a37 billion per year of benefits across the UK infrastructure sector. The Digital Framework Task Group has been set up in order to help deliver these benefits, by working to make infrastructure data across sectors shareable and paving the way to the creation of a National Digital Twin.<\/p>\n

The CDBB and DFTG have now published the Gemini Principles<\/a><\/strong>. These set out proposed principles to guide the national digital twin and the information management framework that will enable it.<\/p>\n

Based on the NIC\u2019s notion of \u2018data for the public good\u2019, the nine foundational Gemini Principles are: public good, value creation, insight, security, openness, quality, federation, curation, and evolution.<\/p>\n

The next output of the DFTG will be the roadmap, a prioritised plan that proposes the best route for delivering the information management framework, due to be published in early 2019.<\/p>\n

The UKRN will be working with our members to consider the principles and the role of regulators and regulation in helping make infrastructure data more shareable.<\/p>\n
